An intense activity has been modifying and improving our understanding of statistical phys ics, extending its applicability considerably. Important developments relating equilibrium and nonequilibrium statistical physics, classical and relatistivic kinetic theory, classical and quantum dynamical systems, information theory have produced a new understanding of the properties of complex systems requiring in many cases the extension of the Boltzmann-Shannon formalism. The main goal of the third edition of the conference News, Expectations and Trends in Statistical Physics (NEXT-SigmaPhi) is to aggregate senjor and young researchers, to synthesize the results of recent activities in order to identify and address future perspectives in the field.
The program will include the following topics:
Fundamental concepts: Boltzmann statistical mechanics, generalized entropies and distributions in statistical physics and information theory Generalized statistical mechanics and thermodynamics, nonextensive theory, kinetic theory, fluctuations, relaxation phenomena, random processes, dynamical systems, chaos, turbulence, long-range interactions and small systems.
Applications: Information theory, Optimization Techniques, Econophysics, Risk, Networks, Traffic Flows, Biology, Sociology, Seismology, Astrophysics, Particle and Nuclear Physics, Plasma and Condensed Matter.
Format: The Conference will be organized in Sessions dealing with general aspects and fundamental problems of statistical physics.
Moreover the Conference will include the following Topical Workshops :
Information Theory
Physics of Networks
Physics of Risks & Econophysics
Stochastic Dynamics
